CINEGENTE WORKSHOPS

Behind the Scenes

WORKSHOPS

Each year Barefeet Films hosts an intensive workshop, known as the CineGente Workshop. CineGente meaning, 'cinema people' in Spanish and Portuguese, and this is exactly what it is! A workshop for the people! The workshops teach screenwriting, acting and filmmaking, and have already taken place in a number of countries over the years.

The workshops are aimed at people who are interested in acting, writing and filmmaking but are unable to enter the industry due to financial barriers, location, education, language and/or literacy skills . The workshop fees are very minimal in comparison to other similar programs, although most programs are run completely free of charge. The workshops are run by volunteers, and have so far been 100% self-funded. For more info please contact us through our contact page.

CineGente welcomes and encourages creative people from indigenous and immigrant backgrounds, women, unemployed individuals and people with physical disabilities to join. The workshop aims to educate people in the basics of filmmaking and theatre, giving participants the confidence to go out into their communities and tell their own stories, and pass on their new-found skills. The goal of each workshop is to teach people to voice their thoughts through modern media,  while implementing important educational information on health, human rights and animal welfare through assistance from our local NGO partners.

WHAT WE DO

WORKSHOP HISTORY

DREAM KISS CRY - SYDNEY AUSTRALIA

This was our first feature film workshop with participants haling from many different backgrounds --Chinese, Japanese, Maori, Aboriginal, French, Italian, Colombian, Argentinian, Lebanese, Salvadorian, Moroccan and Nepalese. Participants attended the workshop three times per week for four months. Each participant completed a minimum of four screenplays based on assignments given to them. The screenplays were all performed in staged readings so that writers could see their work come alive. Some of the participants went on to join the cast or crew, learning new skills on-set.

NOMAD - VARIOUS LOCATIONS

This is our next feature film project. The workshops will be held online with our international web-contact workshops. Participants from the four corners of the globe will be involved in the writing, pre production, production and post production of the film. Workshops will be held in each country, as well as online. Principal photography set for 2018-2019.
